Bad websites have never looked so good

With Geocities now long dead what and where can people turn to for their dodgy websites to embrace their hobbies, cats, sports teams and even, god forbid, businesses.

Well it’s been a long time since the general public has used Geocities seriously, they’ve evolved to such sites as myspace and discovered that webspace is cheap and the best CMS are all available free and legally. Add this to the ever growing armoury of free or affordable templates then you have yourself a web full of well built and good looking sites… surely!? Well, no… Far from it. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with this approach at all for personal use but when businesses start to adopt this for a serious site it’s bad for the everyone.

My name is Leonard Burton and this is my home for all my web design and development work. I work freelance, so if you’re interested in hiring me get in touch! Now that shameless plug is out of the way lets get on with things. You may be thinking… this blog, why? Well there is a hand full of reasons, here are some of the main ones.

First and foremost is to give something back to the web community, especially to those that are just starting out in web design world. I learnt and still learn a lot from fellow designers and developers on the net who have been kind enough to share their knowledge and I want to be able to do the same by sharing techniques, tips and troubleshooting advice in hope that people will learn or even just pick up a hint to stop them from tearing there hair out when they inevitable progress halting brick wall (that is usually thrown up by every version of IE) * cough cough *.
